ABOUT THE CUSTOMER SUBMISSION TOOL

McAfee is dedicated to continuously improving our
anti-spam products detection. In examining messages
that were incorrectly identified by our software or
other vendors products, we hope to learn why a
message was wrongly classified and adjust our
anti-spam technology to make it more effective.

The Customer Submission Tool is an add-on that works
with your Microsoft Outlook e-mail software. With
it, you can send McAfee any e-mail messages that
were incorrectly identified as spam. You can also
send e-mail messages you consider spam that your
anti-spam software did not identify.

INSTALLATION AND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

You can install the McAfee Customer Submission Tool
on computers:

- Running any version of the Microsoft Windows
operating system from (and including) Microsoft
    Windows NT 4.
- Using the Microsoft Outlook e-mail client
program for the Windows operating system.
- Having access to the Internet.

    NOTE:
The tool is not designed to work with the
Microsoft Outlook Express e-mail client program
    that comes with Internet Explorer.

ABOUT THE INSTALLATION FILES

The .ZIP file contains the following files:

   - README.TXT (this file)
   - MCSTOL.DLL (the tool)
   - INSTALL.REG (the file that installs the
       tool)
   - UNINSTAL.REG (the file that removes the tool
from any computer on which you install it)
   - CONTACT.TXT (list of McAfee resources)

The INSTALL.REG file contains two entries that are
added to the Windows registry:

       "McAfee Customer Submission Tool"="4.0;<installation location>\mcstol.dll;1"

       "Outlook Setup Extension"="4.0;Outxxx.dll;7;000000000000000;0000000000;OutXXX"

The UNINSTAL.REG file contains the following
entries:

       "McAfee Customer Submission Tool"=-
       "Outlook Setup Extension"="4.0;Outxxx.dll;7;000000000000000;0000000000;OutXXX"

    NOTE:
The first entry in UNINSTAL.REG removes the
McAfee Customer Submission Tool value from the
    Windows Registry.

DOWNLOADING THE FILES

To get the McAfee Customer Submission Tool
installation files:
1. Connect to the following McAfee web site:

       http://www.mcafeesecurity.com/us/products/mcafee/antispam/category.htm

2. Read the Customer Submission Tool licensing and
privacy statement and make sure that you agree
    to its terms.
3. Download the MCST10.ZIP archive file.
4. Extract the contents of MCST10.ZIP to a location
on the computer on which you plan to install the
    tool.
5. In Windows Explorer, create the folder location
in which you want to install the MCSTOL.DLL
    file.
6. Open the INSTALL.REG file and edit it so that
the installation location refers to the location
that you created in Step 5.

INSTALLATION STEPS

1. Ensure that the person doing the installation
has administrative rights to the computer.
2. On the computer on which you plan to install the
tool, close Microsoft Outlook. If you try to
install the tool with Outlook running, the
    installation fails.
3. Copy the MCSTOL.DLL to the location that you
created in Windows Explorer in Step 5 of
    Downloading the files.
4. To add the tools registry values to the Windows
    Registry, double-click the INSTALL.REG file.

When the values are in the registry, Microsoft
Outlook recognizes that the tool is available.

5. Restart Outlook.

When Outlook restarts, you can immediately use
the tool to send wrongly classified messages to
    McAfee.

CHANGES TO THE COMPUTER

After the tool installs successfully, the following
changes occur to the computer:

- Two buttons appear on the right-hand side of the
    Outlook toolbar.
- Two options appear in the Outlook Actions menu:
Submit Spam Sample and Submit Non-Spam Sample.
- An MCSTOL.DLL installation file is located in
    the installation folder.

UNINSTALLING THE TOOL

To remove the tool from the computer, you need to
use the UNINSTAL.REG file:

1. Ensure that UNINSTAL.REG is available on the
computer from which you want to remove the
    tool.
2. Close Microsoft Outlook.
3. Double-click the UNINSTAL.REG file to have the
Windows Registry remove the tools presence from
    Microsoft Outlook.
4. Go to the installation location that you created
in Downloading the files and delete MCSTOL.DLL.
5. Restart Outlook.

TROUBLESHOOTING UNINSTALLATION

The steps in UNINSTALLING THE TOOL may not remove
the tool completely from the computer and you may
receive errors the next time that Outlook starts. To
resolve this:

1. Close Microsoft Outlook.
2. Search the computer for a file (or files) called
    EXTEND.DAT and delete them.
3. Restart Microsoft Outlook.

INSTALLING THE TOOL ON MORE THAN ONE COMPUTER

If you plan to install this tool on a number of
computers using technology such as Microsoft SMS
(Systems Management Server), or a batch file, create
the script or batch file so that it follows the
procedure in Installation steps.
