Setting up system service ports

You can set up system service ports to allow or block remote network access to a service on your PC. These ports can be opened or closed for PCs that are listed as Home, Work, or Public in your Connections list.

Tasks
Allow access to an existing system service port
You can open an existing port to allow remote network access to a system service on your PC, like a mail server, secure web server, or universal Plug and Play.
Block access to an existing system service port
You can close an existing port when you want to block remote network access for a system service on your PC.
Set up a new system service port
You can set up a new system service port on your PC that you can open or close, to allow or block remote access to your PC. You can also modify the incoming and outgoing network access information for an existing system service port.
Remove a system service port
You can remove an existing system service port from your PC. After the port is removed, remote PCs can no longer access the network service on your PC.
