Schedule automatic scans

A scheduled scan checks your PC for viruses and other threats on a regular basis. Scheduled scans are essential to ensuring the continuous health of your PC. By default, McAfee performs a scheduled scan once a week, but you can modify the schedule to fit your needs.

1 Open the Schedule Scan Settings page.
2 In the Select a schedule menu, decide the frequency of scans. You can scan once a day, once every second day, or on the first day of each month.
To set your own scan schedule, select Create my own schedule and click the days of the week you want to run scheduled scans. In the hour and minute fields, enter the time of day you want to run scans, and then select AM or PM. In the menu, decide the frequency of scans. You can scan on the specified days once a week, once every second week, or the first week of each month.
3 To conserve your PC's resources while scanning, select Scan using minimal resources.
4 To conserve your PC's battery power and run a scheduled scan only when your PC is plugged, select Start scan only when my PC is plugged in.
5 Click Apply.
