Starting Personal Firewall

From the moment you install Personal Firewall, it begins protecting your PC from intrusion and unwanted network traffic. Smart Advice is automatically enabled, helping you handle alerts, and you can manage access for known and unknown programs. By default, Personal Firewall is set to allow outgoing access for programs. If Personal Firewall is not installed, the Home Page shows the status of any other firewall protection you might have. If no other firewall is installed, Home Page shows the status of your Windows firewall.

You can disable Personal Firewall if you need to (perhaps for troubleshooting purposes), but if you do your PC is no longer protected from intrusion and unwanted network traffic. You are also unable to manage incoming and outgoing Internet connections. If you disable firewall protection, turn it back on as soon as possible.
Personal Firewall automatically disables Windows Firewall and sets itself as your default firewall.
Turn firewall protection off
In some rare situations, you might want to turn off Personal Firewall temporarily. For example, you might need to turn Personal Firewall off while you troubleshoot an issue.
Turn firewall protection on
When firewall protection is off, your PC is vulnerable to threats, and your protection status on the Home Page is "at risk." Turn firewall protection on to restore your protection against threats and return your status on the Home Page to "secure."
