Setting up Personal Firewall protection

Personal Firewall lets you choose how to manage your security, including how to respond to threats and alerts.

Personal Firewall offers Smart Advice on granting Internet access to programs, which comes to you in the form of an alert. You can set up Personal Firewall to apply those recommendations automatically, or to let you view them first, then decide whether to apply them.

Security types help you customize your protection to suit your needs. When you install Personal Firewall, by default it allows programs on your PC to send information over the Internet. However, you can apply other security types, to be more or less restrictive when granting Internet access.
Restore Personal Firewall settings
You can change your Personal Firewall settings to suit your needs, and you can also restore Personal Firewall to its original settings at any time. You might want to restore the defaults when you are experiencing problems and need to return your protection to a known state, but don't remember which settings you have changed.
