Personal Firewall features

Personal Firewall is tailored to provide effective protection without disrupting your activities. The features of Personal Firewall allow you to carefully control the information sent to and from your PC.

Standard and custom protection levels Everyone's protection needs are different. Guard against intrusion and suspicious activity using default settings of Personal Firewall, or customize the protection options that work best for you.
Smart Advice While you work, receive recommendations that help you decide whether to allow Internet access to programs, and whether to trust network traffic. You can also set the recommendations included in Smart Advice to be applied automatically.
Management of Internet access for programs Set program permissions to determine which programs can access the Internet, and which type of access they have. You can allow programs to have full access, outgoing-only access, or no access at all.
Gaming protection Hide alerts when you launch any application in full-screen. When you exit, you start receiving informational alerts again.
PC startup protection Begin protecting your PC from intrusion attempts, unwanted programs, and network traffic as soon as Windows starts.
System service port control An open system service port can make your PC vulnerable to Internet security threats, but Personal Firewall gives you the tools you need to carefully manage the system service ports that some programs require.
Management of PC connections Allow and block remote connections to maintain control over what information travels between your PC and other PCs.
HackerWatch information integration Track global hacking and intrusion patterns through the HackerWatch website. HackerWatch provides current security information about programs on your PC, as well as global security events and Internet port statistics.
Personal Firewall Lockdown Instantly block all incoming and outgoing traffic between your PC and the Internet. This is a good option when you're suspicious or aware of a vulnerability or attack on your security.
Personal data protection Detect and block potentially malicious applications, such as Trojans, from sending your personal data over the Internet.
Event logging Track recent incoming events, outgoing events, and intrusion events to see who has accessed, or tried to access, your PC.
Intrusion prevention Prevent your PC from being accessed and manipulated against your will. Personal Firewall blocks items that display the characteristics of an attack or hacking attempt.
Sophisticated traffic analysis Review both incoming and outgoing Internet traffic and program connections, including those that are actively listening for open connections. This allows you to manage programs with vulnerability to intrusion.
