McAfee Anti-Theft Help

Mark your PC as lost or stolen

If your PC is ever lost or stolen, you'll need to log in to the Anti-Theft Web Console to secure your PC, then choose to track its location, or shut it down.

1 Log in to the Anti-Theft Web Console.
2 Make sure your PC is in normal mode.
3 From the web console, click Secure my PC.
4 You now need to decide whether to put your PC in stealth mode or shut down mode:
To keep your PC on, lock your files, and track your PC's location when it's connected to the Internet, select Start stealth mode, then click Continue.
To stop tracking your PC's location and immediately shut it down and lock it, select Lock down my PC, then click Continue. If necessary, change the message you'd like to appear onscreen when your PC restarts after it shuts down. You can also change the Anti-Theft password you need to unlock your PC after it shuts down. Click Shut down.
Before your PC can change modes, it must first connect to the Internet and sync with your account. This can take several minutes.
5 When your PC syncs with your account, the web console displays your PC's new mode (stealth mode or shut down mode).
