When you purchase and activate your McAfee software, it stays up-to-date by automatically checking for and installing updates when your PC is connected to the Internet. Automatic updates include protection against new viruses, spyware, and spam, and the latest feature enhancements to keep your McAfee software running smoothly. You can also check for updates manually at any time.
We recommend that you use the default setting for updates. This way you can be sure that you receive the latest protection for your PC as soon as it is available. If you decide to change the way you receive updates, however, you can do so at any time. For example, you can choose to let McAfee download updates automatically, but notify you before installing them, or you can choose to let McAfee notify you when protection updates are available. You can also turn off automatic updates completely. If you do turn off automatic updates, however, you need to check for updates regularly to stay protected against the latest threats.
