Schedule automatic scans

A scheduled scan checks your PC for viruses and other threats on a regular basis. Scheduled scans are essential to ensuring the continuous health of your PC. By default, McAfee performs a scheduled scan once a week, but you can modify the schedule to fit your needs.

Task
1 Open the Schedule Scan Settings page.
2 Pull down the menu next to Use McAfee scan schedule to decide the frequency of scans (you can scan once a day, once every other day, or on the first day of each month).
To set your own scan schedule, select Set my own scan schedule and click on the days of the week you want to run scheduled scans. Enter the time of day you want to run scans by typing numbers in the hour and minute fields, and selecting AM or PM. Then pull down the menu and decide the frequency of scans (you can scan on the specified days once a week, once every other week, or the first week of each month).
3 To conserve your PC's resources while scanning, you can run the scan at a reduced speed by selecting Scan using minimal resources.
4 To conserve your PC's battery power, you can set a scheduled scan to run only when your PC is plugged in by selecting Start scan only when my PC is plugged in.
5 Click Apply.
