Assigning an age group

Parental Controls blocks or allows websites and online activities based on the age group a child belongs to. Activities you might want to control include instant messaging and online games. Content categories define the types of content found on websites and online activities. By assigning your children to an age group, you control which sites they can access and which online activities they participate in.

Assign a user to an age group
You assign your child to an age group to let McAfee know what content you consider appropriate for that child. You must assign your child to an age group before you can apply any other protection settings.
Allow a content category
When you allow a content category for your child, you let the child see websites containing that type of content and participate in online acitivities associated with that type of content. To allow a content category, you move it from the Blocked list into the Allowed list in Parental Controls.
Block a content category
When you block a content category for your child, you stop the child from looking at websites containing that type of content and participating in online acitivities associated with that type of content. To block a content category, you move it from the Allowed list into the Blocked list in Parental Controls. If a child tries to visit a website from a blocked category, a message appears indicating that the site or activity is blocked by McAfee.
Allow only Kid Safe websites
By selecting the Kid Safe Websites category for a child, you restrict that child's access and online activities to only what is included in this category, like Disney.com and Yahoo! Kids. If a child tries to access a website not included in this category, a message appears indicating that the site or activity is blocked by McAfee.
